Stock market crash
In 1929 the biggest market crash ever occurred. It started on October 24 (Black Thursday) and continued until October 29, 1929 (Black Tuesday ). It was the most devastating stock market crash in the history of the United States, when taking into consideration the full extent and duration of its after effects. Thousands of banks around the country failed and thousands of people lost everything. This led to the great depression which lasted from 1930-1940.
Roosevelt Presidency
Franklin D. Roosevelt was an American statesman and political leader who served as the 32nd president of the United States from 1933 until his death in 1945. In his first hundred days in office Roosevelt created 15 major pieces of New Deal legislation, and significantly expanded the fed gov. role in the nations economy.
New Deal
The New Deal was a series of programs and projects instituted during the Great Depression by President Franklin D. Roosevelt that aimed to restore prosperity to Americans. Roosevelt took office in 1933, he acted swiftly to stabilize the economy and provide jobs and relief to those who were suffering.
